January found us doing a wireless design for a seminary and offices of a religious entity in Washington DC at several of their facilities. Then we headed to upstate NY to do a formal wireless network design for a sports arena and conference center. Wrapped up the month doing a wireless design survey for a high school in northeast Pennsylvania.
Took some time off in February to get caught up on training and some administrative work around the office and warehouse. Traveled to Nashville later in the month to visit a client. They needed some more help with their network and getting it back on track. Stabilized their wireless network, tuned it, cleaned up some other nagging network issues. Started talking about a managed network service for long term support. Wrapped up the month with a wireless site design survey for a rehabilitation hospital and then started a multi-month project for some cyber schools. These were site surveys for their rented testing facilities. Two different cyber schools, 53 sites, all over the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
March was simple… more site surveys for the cyber schools. This project had both Dawn and Alex traveling in different directions to double up of surveys.
April opened up with more cyber school surveys, winding this effort up. Presented a breakout session at an education / technology conference in Maryland. Presented on wireless network design tips on behalf of one of our partners. Lots of small efforts to prepare for future projects. Mostly site visits to scope out needs, some service calls, a few WiFi Whispering sessions for residential clients. Wrapped up the month with prep and then going onsite at a construction firm in Baltimore MD to install 19 cameras around their property.
May had us wrapping up a camera install and moved right onto another camera and WiFi install for a non-profit in Virginia. Attended some training in New York City for Trend Networks, our vendor for ethernet and fiber testing equipment. Then on to some site surveys for proposals and some service calls.
June started with a wireless design survey for a Catholic high school in Maryland. We also did a wireless design site survey for another rehabilitation hospital. Rounded out the month doing a wireless design site survey for a state hospital site in Pennsylvania and some wireless controller programming for a Ruckus system in a high school.
July found us at another PA State hospital site to start their wireless network design. Then we started a wireless network troubleshooting session in a warehouse in Kutztown PA. Lots of wireless issues with root causes being poor design, wrong equipment, bad wiring, and unrealistic expectations of wireless. We were able to buy them some time with changes and fixes to help until they could replace the system and fix some of their issues. Throughout the month we had some consulting sessions for wireless networks and a router migration effort, plus some WiFi Whispering sessions. Closed out the month with a validation survey after a wireless upgrade we designed was installed (one of the rehab hospitals), and another wireless site survey for a new design in a state laboratory in Pennsylvania.
In August, took a run to Boston to visit a client we have been consulting with few a few years. Their wireless network was in bad shape and they needed a tuning exercise. When we arrived, we realized we had been in this building many years ago on a similar exercise for another tenant. Next up was a wireless point to point network and camera system install we designed for a small zoo in Vienna VA. NoVA Wild Zoo is a great place to take the kids. Very hands on, get up close and personal with some of the animals. Had an awesome time doing the install and having some new assistants, some cute kangaroos that wanted to check us out. Later on in the month, we went back to the Kutztown warehouse to scope out the facility as part of an upcoming install project. Wrapped up the month onboarding a new managed network client in Tennessee. As part of the on-boarding, we did some rearrangement of their VLANs and implemented some changes to make things run smoother in their co-working space and studio areas.
September started with a wireless site design survey for a large PA state agency in Pennsylvania. Then on to an 8-site wireless troubleshooting exercise for a health club firm in Maryland. Conducted another troubleshooting exercise for a large house site and a wireless site design survey in another Maryland rehab hospital.
October opened up with a small install project in a house in Maryland followed by a WiFi Whispering session for a house in Texas. Then off to upstate New York to do installs for the sports arena and conference center we designed earlier in the year. Spent two weeks doing installs in the arena and other areas of the facility including their museum. Scouted out some options for a few point to point links to connect their various sites and for WiFi designs in these facilities. Got started on an upcoming install in a warehouse as well.
November opened up with a flight down to Miami to attend a conference with Ubiquiti, one of our vendors. Then we drove over to Naples Florida to visit one of our managed networks. While there we swapped out one of the older cameras for a new one with better AI capabilities and fixed some network lines and started work on a broken access point. While we were headed back, one of our great techs, J.C. dropped into a Pennsylvania state agency office to conduct a wireless site validation survey after their new WiFi install effort was completed. Then we headed to Kutztown PA to handle a Cisco wireless network install in large warehouse. We hung 23 new access points with external panel antennas, removed 32 old ones, ran over 700ft of fiber, about 10 new lines from their closets, and then did a validation survey and followed that up with a briefing to senior management. Next up was a trip to Burlington NC to help a church with their wireless issues and then on to Nashville Tennessee to do some more network cleanup at a managed network client site.
December was full of variety. We ran back to Nashville to do some additional work on a managed network. Then four days of wireless design training to satisfy Ekahau’s re-certification requirements. Next up, conducted wireless site surveys in two schools. Then on to prep work for an install at the end of the month. A few days were spent troubleshooting the wireless network at a large estate as well. Then the install at the end of the month.
A solid year. Looking forward to a great 2026.
