2026 started with wrapping up an install of a new network and moved on quickly to some fun projects.
January was a quiet month related to travel. Spent the month working on deliverables and marketing efforts mostly. Put on a webinar on building a secure wireless network for one of our partners. Did some predictive designs for a major manufacturer as well.
February found us back in a warehouse we had designed and installed previously. Seems their neighbors changed their network around a bit and were creating a mess of the wireless spectrum. Sorted out the issues and helped them get configured better to deal with the neighbor. Wireless is never easy! Later in the month, conducted a series of validation surveys for designs that we did last year. Used the results to fine tune the networks. Middle of the month, we began our annual site survey project for a few cyber charter schools. These surveys are a combination of wireless and cellular coverage checks along with ensuring the facility meets their needs for student testing. At the same time, we started a big push with a state government to survey and design wireless for their many sites (rumor is 200 to 1000 sites over the next few years).
March had us continuing the site surveys for the cyber charter schools and the state sites. Threw in some service calls and remote network changes for managed clients. Now that the snow had melted, we also slipped in an outdoor survey for a major estate property, then took a trip to Iowa to design WiFi in a large warehouse / manufacturing facility.
April kicked off another round of state government site surveys. This time in juvenile detention centers mostly. These sites are very complex, have some tough construction to work with, and present a safety challenge when working. We also ran to New York to install an outdoor wireless solution at a major estate now that their renovations and additions were ready for our work.
May found us doing wireless designs for a chain of acute care rehab facilities. They have twenty locations and so far we have completed about 8 of them. Kicked off planning for a major network rebuild and modernization for a large auto dealership in New York. Also kicked off a design planning effort for a municipal wireless network for a client in Virginia. Continued our work with the juvenile detention centers. Ended the month with a wireless site survey to fix issues at a large estate on a tropical island.
June started with a quick trip to New York to do a site walk through for the auto dealership. Tightened up the plan as a result and started the hardware ordering process. Actual install is in September, but there is a lot of planning and preparation to do. All hardware is here now and we are building the network out in our office so it can be easily swapped in a single day. Planned out their phone system migration and got that underway. Integrating their phones and CRM solution, cleaning up their data closets, replacing all switches and routers (most are currently over ten years old and not supported now). Multi-site with multiple ISPs per site. Some more work with the juvenile detention centers and finalizing their designs and reports. Knocked out service calls in Baltimore and Nashville. Also conducted site surveys at three of the acute care rehab facilities. Their designs will be done next month.
