We provide a number of WiFi networking services to include:
Design
We are brand agnostic. We work with our clients to select the best options for their needs. Collabsion uses the best tools and industry standards to design complex wireless networks for our clients.
We have worked in virtually every type of environment such as schools, churches, large office buildings, high rise apartments, hospitals, manufacturing, warehouse, large event venues, wineries, breweries, and even some unique places like on board ships, large airplane hangars, transportation systems (bus/train), and remote areas where there is no service to support large outdoor events. We work mainly with Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Ruckus/CommScope, Cambium, and Ubiquiti.
A typical WiFi network design project will start with a client interview to discover needs, constraints, timelines, and overall goals of the project. We will need to acquire or create scaled floor plans that are accurate. These need to include the walls, doors, windows, stairs, and other special features of the construction. We will interview your facilities team or others that have knowledge of the construction as well. We might conduct a review of existing networks to ensure it can support a new WiFi network.
Then we likely will go onsite to conduct testing of construction materials and to put eyes on the situation so we can determine proper mounting methods and locations, test coverage, and validate the network conditions. Once this data has been gathered, we will work on a predictive design.
We can also do AP on a Stick designs. These are time consuming and tend to cost a good bit more, but they guarantee the placement and type of AP to be used. Typically an AP on a Stick design is 95-100% accurate, whereas a predictive design can range from 75-95% depending on how much data is gathered versus guessed or assumed.
Validation
After a WiFi network has been installed, a validation survey should be conducted to ensure it meets the coverage requirements and to make adjustments as needed. This survey is done using our survey tools and devices which gather the data from the various access points as a surveyor walks the site. This data is analyzed by our engineers and plans are made to improve the service if needed.
Troubleshooting
Wireless networking is not “set it and forget it.” If you did, at some point, you will likely start to have some issues. Things like slow page loads, dropped calls, garbled calls, dropped connections. Many companies try to sort it out using a phone or similar device with a WiFi tool like WiFiMan or WiFi Explorer. These are great tools for quick sanity checks as they only read signal strength. While an important measurement, you can have solid signal strength and yet still have bad WiFi performance due to other issues like noise, co-channel interference, adjacent channel interference, or poor placement. These issues won’t be found with that phone and free application.
Using our testing software and device, our engineers will walk your site gathering RF data to review. This data is the same as we gather during a validation survey. We will also review the controller settings, check the physical network for issues, review DHCP and DNS settings, internet connections, and use cases/patterns. This information will allow us to find your issues and work on a mitigation plan.
Mitigation can sometimes be very simple, such as modify channel or power settings. Maybe a bit more complex by adding or moving a few access points. Or more extreme – a full redesign for really bad networks.
Residential WiFi network design (any size home or estate)
More and more, our homes depend on wireless network connections. They support our entertainment devices, computers, sensors, and smart home equipment. For many in rural areas, they also ensure our cell phones continue to work.
We can build a solid wireless network in your home that will ensure you have the coverage you need in every corner of the house and even outside. We offer an affordable option for home owners that want the best network their money can buy. We also have managed network services geared towards the home user environment.
